Survey says.....

Once again the news sites have been their usual source of entertainment for me.

It has been ‘found’ in a recent 'study' that Australian men are the worst husbands and terrible at house cleaning. I just love these so called studies, based on a group, which has the ability to declare something, actual truth or not. When is the study going to happen about studies being a pointless waste of time that more often than not skip down the path to some conclusion that has little to do with the really real world?

Does the study mention everyone, men and women loathe housework? No. Does the study mention the large amount of jobless women who might actually prefer to do the housework? No. Does the study mention other ways the men may be helping out? No. Just some broad statement about our Australian guys ducking and running for cover the second a mop rears it’s ugly head.

Bollocks. I have seen over the years more and more men try to take on more and more, in the effort to help out the wife. Sometimes their efforts have been a bit of a hit and miss affair, and with the ensuing ridicule and or abuse from the missus, they have given up. Who’s fault is that? The woman’s. Simple as that. How many women out there secretly enjoy the tag of ‘supermum’ because she will drive herself into the ground trying to hold down the job and the house at the same time, because should anyone else do anything for her, it won’t be good enough and she’ll just have to do it again, ‘properly’.

A lot, not all, but a lot of women have made this rod for their own backs. I have seen guys bust their guts to please the little woman. Even more sadly watch them give up, and come to the conclusion the only ‘help’ they are supposed to be is to hand over the pay check and be thankful for whatever happens after that. Aussie guys got the raw prawn with this little piece of work.
Hence here are the results of MY study into men and women.

1. Men do not demand women sit down and watch sports with them. But women will demand men go shopping with them, as often as the woman feels like it. Or until the man plucks his own eyes out of his head out of sheer desperation.
2. Men are happy with a dry towel in the bathroom. Women will consider it a capitol offense if the towels hanging in the bathroom do not match and proceed to read the riot act to the poor man simply in search of a dry towel.
3. Men are quite happy with a basic cheese and tomatoe on crackers quick type snack. Women will send the man back to the kitchen to ‘get it right’ and expect it in minutes.
4. Men will get abused for opening doors for women or helping them into chairs, because they are being sexist, but women will expect men to pay the bill for drinks, dinner and everything else.
5. When first meeting the opposite sex, men will be accused of only thinking about how long before they can get the woman in bed. But little is said about the amount of women who will not even consider talking to a man, let alone dating him until she has found out his full financial status and whether or not he is in the ‘right’ wage bracket for her.
6. Men are expected to compliment women on the way they look at all times. Women will take it as an act of war if a man actually tells them the truth and yes their butt looks huge in those pants.
7. Men are to accept all decorating decisions made by the women without complaint. Women will also expect the man to pay for these decisions.
8. Men will be roundly and soundly criticised for spending say, $30 a month on periodicals. Women will spend at least $50 a month on hair, nails, etc. and god help any man if he questions this amount.
9. Men are expected to deal with PMS, bad hair days and such. Women will tell men to grow up should they even so much as have a bad day at work.
10. Lastly, men are expected to take every survey result that puts them in a negative eye and make promises to somehow ‘better’ themselves. God help anyone who says a single bad word about women in general because they must be chauvinistic pigs.

So, there it is, my view on a few things. Men AND women are not perfect. Deal with it.

Totally agree with #1 and #4. Especially #4... Being polite etc usually get me some strange looks.

Even had a "Lady" get agro because I held open a door for her.

Crikey Daze - are your stereotypes/generalisations less offensive because they're about women?

This 'study' is an embarrassment to Oxford Uni. Second-rate wannabe unis go for PR-chasing pop-psychology crap like this, not the best unis in the world like Oxford or Cambridge. Just an exercise in stereotyping and vox-pop opinioneering. I call BULLSHIT on the lot of it.

I'm with the Yobbo. Total waste of resources.

Curious to know if they asked any Sharia run nations about the domestics and where the women stand. Be somewhere between the dog and the cow, I bet.

Al, Sorry to hear you have been subject to some of th examples. But only two? Some men might say you are lucky. lol.

Lou, As I said I have real life experiences with all of the above sadly. While I have never seen myself as a militant feminist, I have never experienced men thinking I am not equal to them - once they get to know me. ;)

Dr Yobbo and Moko, excellent call on the whole thing, and Moko? Let's NOT get me started on the whole Sharia run countries thing hm? Not a good place to go.
